Virginia Leavell

Virginia is a PhD student in Sociology at UCSB. She studies the impact of technological change on work and workers. Her research focuses on new and historical automation technologies, organized worker responses to technological change, and the role of technology in production. Before coming to study at UCSB, Virginia worked as an organizer in a construction union in Washington, DC. She later helped found a popular education center in central Virginia, and worked as a consultant, fundraiser, and researcher.
